This is a painted study of N.C. Wyeth's "The King's Henchman". Wyeth's original was done in oil at 42"x48".
I wasn't trying to copy the original in visual detail as much as in the spirit of Wyeth's style of painting. I was also seeing how far I could push painting with gouache to mimic oil. I feel I achieved mixed results on both parts, but it was a very good learning exercise.

I would say you did an excellent job. I'm not a painting critic, I pretty much am terrible at painting. But I am familiar with the painting in question and your study has captured the style quite well, I feel.
It does look like an oil painting!
Thats one good study to do one day, if I had the patience to do it...
